Congratulations New York Voters
by Peter G. Pollak
New York voters are to be congratulated for not rubber-stamping the Constitutional Amendment November 8.
Although there were good arguments in favor of the amendment as well as opposed, the fact that a large number of voters paid attention to such a complex issue, made up their minds and bothered to vote on it is a very good sign for New York's future.
New York faces difficult decisions on such matters as funding education and health care, creating a business climate that grows our economy and reversing a tax climate that drives businesses and middle class people to other states.
The extent to which voters take the time to study the issues and express their views whether at the polls, by writing or calling their elected officials, or by in an even more activist mode helps our elected officials make wise decisions.
The Empire Page is committed to New York's future. We accept guest editorials from all responsible viewpoints. We post articles, columns and editorials from a wide variety of media outlets so that people can be informed about the issues of the day. We provide links to websites that contain useful information – from those of elected officials to special interest groups.
Please contact us if you want to submit a guest editorial, if want us to add a link to our links page or if you have a suggestion as to how we can make our site more valuable to you.
Meanwhile our best wishes to all for a Happy Thanksgiving.
