A view from not too far
by Lou Gordon

I'll take the "Working Joe" over the "Greenwich golfer" any day.

Ned Lamont had one question for Senator Joe and Ned forgot to ask about Iraq?

What's up with that???

Ned could have asked: "Senator Lieberman, what do you say to the thousands of mothers like 'Mrs. Casey of Norwich' who lost her son 'Private Casey,' (Casey stands for all the lost soldiers) to a car bomb in Baghdad, in an unjust war that is based on lies, misrepresentations over WMD and the myth of Americans as liberators in Iraq?"

But he bailed!

I am sure Ned is a swell guy but he forgot to make the Iraq War a human personal tragedy for the people of Connecticut.

I hate the freaking war but Lamont seemed to be just a soft figure head for blogheads from all over the "daily koz" .. .. and as Howard Dean and proved, blogers in orange hats from out of state do not win elections.

John Kerry proved firefighters, truck drivers and senior citizens - real people who sweat, ride buses, pay $3.50 for gas and work for a living ... Do Win Primaries!

I had hoped to see a Ned Lamont with the fire in his belly, full of outrage over an unjust war that is killing and maiming our young. BUT all I heard was a blog based blah blah!

At least Joe is a lunch box guy who the Connecticut AFL CIO and the environmentalists and the freedom of choice groups can support.

If we learned anything in 2006 the Dems need a big tent Joe, not a guy who hires a caterer with a fancy tent for a lawn party.

We need a Joe who brings home the bacon for Connecticut, not a fellow who eats bacon in his quiche!

Joe didn't even have to say that he supports a strong Israel!

He battled the Bush scheme to privatize social security and he's got an impeccable 40 year civil rights record fighting for the Black and Brown residents of the Nutmeg state and all of America.

Joe saved the New London Sub Base... "all politics is local" said Tip O'Neil or "the local train is the way to ride" but Lamont is trying to take the express route to the Senate.

It won't work and it won't fly.

Don't feel bad, at least Ned Lamont can live on his stock options from whichever non union company he ran.

Finally, where are the Lamont tax returns? Even Mayor Mike Bloomberg shows them!

Remember, the Race in 2006 is against BUSH and the GOP in November. Lets keep our eyes on the Prize! The Senate and the House.

So there!

Senator Joe, He still stands for Us..!

Regards to all my liberal knee-jerk Democratic friends.
