Upstate New York Focus of New Empire Page Blog
ALBANY, NY -- (01/25/2007; 0800)(EIS) -- "What about Upstate?" That's the question thousands of New Yorkers have been asking over the years as elected officials have come and gone, promising solutions while fundamental problems remained unchanged or worsened. Things may be about to change in 2007, however, as one of the first things Eliot Spitzer did as governor was announce that Upstate will be a top priority in his administration.
As hopeful as that announcement sounds, how will people know if things are going in the right direction?
"In keeping with our commitment to keep the readers of the Empire Page website informed, we are happy to announce the launch of a new blog entitled 'What About Upstate?' which will be written by Stuart H. Brody, Esq.," stated Peter G. Pollak, editor. "Brody will help identify the underlying issues affecting Upstate. He'll address questions such as 'Is more state aid the solution?' 'What's the right way for government to stimulate economic development?' and 'Can the rural character that attracts people to Upstate be preserved?'"
Stu Brody is a business services attorney and Of Counsel to the law firm of Hiscock & Barclay, LLP, in Albany. He has lived in Essex County in the Adirondacks for nearly 20 years. He currently serves as chair of the Democratic Rural Conference, a Democratic Party-based organization devoted to improving the lives of residents in New York's rural counties. Brody advises economic development agencies and companies on business development issues upstate.
"The Empire Page is pleased to add Stu Brody to the list of our exclusive commentators," stated Pollak. "Stu has impressed me with his insights, his independence and his commitment to helping to restore a region that once was the center of the American economy."
